Finds of the Week March 8-15

March has been AMAZING so far. We haven't sold many big money items, but a lot of $20-$40 items. This is our first full year selling on eBay and we are learning about the peaks and valleys of the calendar year. January and February were valleys for us; after the holiday rush. March seems to be a peak with people receiving their tax refund and having money to spend. 

We are a business run by people with disabilities. We started with a thrift re-selling business as the first step, but will be greatly expanding in the future.  This week we focused on listing items for a disabled friend, who recently lost her job.     HARLEY-DAVIDSON men's button down shirt. Unless a store wants a crazy amount for a HARLEY-DAVIDSON item, we ALWAYS buy it.

    Hugo Boss XXL polo shirt. Another brand on my BOLO list that I can fist bump (I fist bump the brands I've found and sold).

    Tommy Bahama lot of 3XT shirt. Another brand that we are always on the lookout for. We never find it in North Florida but always do in South Florida.

    HARLEY-DAVIDSON vintage shirt from Elgin, Illinois. We held onto this shirt for months trying to find information on it. Eventually, we just gave in and sold it. We could never find another one like it or find the contact information for the HARLEY-DAVIDSON in Elgin. We tried.

    Men's 7 For All Mankind "A Pocket" jeans. This is a brand that nobody ever told us about. We bought Meinard's book and search the blogs/websites for advice on brands to buy. NOBODY ever mentioned 7 For All Mankind, but while looking at Nordstrom's website; we saw the jeans sell for $100-$200 new. If someone will pay $200 for a new pair of jeans, they will pay $25-$75 for used jeans. We find 7 For All Mankind jeans all the time! They are an easy money maker. If you find larger women's sizes (30 and above) or any men's jeans: buy them! They will make you money.

    Yves Saint Laurent Men's long sleeve shirt. This shirt fist bumped another great brand on our list. First time buying it, so we will see how it sells.

Disabled Lives Matter

Please watch the video below. My best friend, a strong disabled woman, was fired by a organization for people with disabilities. She did nothing wrong. Her bosses walked into her office, fired her and ordered her to be out in 30 minutes. When her angry sister comes to help her pack, they call the police on them. 

Afterward, our weekly group for high functioning people with disabilities is canceled and we were told to attend the group for low functioning people.

Surgery Week

Unfortunately, we didn't get to thrift shop this week. I had surgery on my thumb and was unable to shop. We sold a few items but it was a generally slow week. 

Hopefully, next week is better. Maybe will check out Goodwill pound outlet store.

Finds and Sales for the week of Feb 16-22

I spent the week in Southwest Florida. I had to attend a first birthday party, my mom's birthday party and a baby shower. The thrift stores in Southwest Florida are the best I've ever shopped in. It's an extremely wealthy area, who has a very seasonal population. The snowbirds come down to Southwest Florida and donate incredible items every year. Plus the wealthy parents down there purchase their children and teens high end clothing, which gets constantly donated. 

It doesn't hurt that the prices are great at the thrift stores in Southwest Florida. They have a customer loyalty program; where if you spend $100 you get $10 off your next purchase. They have a 50% color every week and one Saturday each month where everything in the store is 50% off. Those Saturdays are pure craziness.

Finds and Sales for Feb 8th-15th

We traveled to Tallahassee, Florida this weekend to thrift and support a family member play basketball for Miami vs Florida State. Gainesville doesn't have very good thrift stores and thought it was due to being a college town. Tallahassee proved us wrong....the thrift stores were amazing! Here are a few of our finds:

Jordan 11 Gamma Blue size 1.5Y. 

My heart skipped a beat when I saw these shoes. People waited in line for days  to get a pair of these shoes when they came out. My brother wore them for his senior year of college basketball, so I knew they were a great find. Just wish they were bigger.

Diesel Rumbum men's jeans. ANYTIME I see a Diesel brand item, it's coming home with me; especially men's items. The jeans were listed last week and haven't sold yet; but in the 7 days have over 300 views and 8 watchers.

Horace Grant vintage Champion Brand jersey. The jersey is size XL and appears to have never been worn. Horace Grant is a rare jersey to find as he wasn't the big star of Jordan or Shaq.

Overall, Tallahassee was an amazing trip. We spent $300 between thrift shopping, hotel and food. We've already made $322 from our sales and still have seven jerseys, two pairs of jeans and two sweatshirts left. So, we've got plenty of money left to make. We'd recommend a trip to Tallahassee to anyone.
