A-Z Brands: V

We are down to the last 4 entries on the list. Today we have one of my favorite brands.

A-Z Brands: V

Dries Van Noten

Dries Van Noten (DVN) is a Belgian designer clothing company started in 1986 and named after its founder. DVN's debut collection garnered so much international press that Barney's New York immediately picked it up; a monumental career highlight. In 1986, Van Noten opened his first boutique in Antwerp and in 1991 he started a men's line with a fashion show in Paris.

Van Noten is known for his unique poetic and cerebral look, unassuming textures, controlled layering and famously art inspired pieces. DVN continues to grow with over 500 stores and 5 boutiques as of 2008.

Dries Van Noten pieces are fairly limited on eBay and generally expensive. There are currently 1058 pre-owned items listed and 1036 sold recently. If (and that's a BIG IF), you find DVN items they are the perfect brand to sell. Why?

1. They are expensive new and sell very well used also.

2. They are of high quality and you'll probably find them in excellent condition. Anybody who will pay that much for a piece of clothing will take care of it.

3. There is a limited number being sold on eBay and limited competition.

⬇️ Supply  ⬆️ Demand

4. Thrift store employees haven't heard of Dries Van Noten and won't Jack up the prices.

Here are some recent sales:

I was lucky enough on my En Fuego Day last May to find 4 Dries Van Noten pieces. I've never seen any others at a thrift stores before or since that day. Dries Van Noten is my highest selling brand (averaged per item). I've sold 3 of the pieces and currently have 1 listed. The last one has 12 watchers and nearly 300 views. Here are the Dries Van Noten items have bought:

I get a lot of items for $30-$60. This is my all time high selling item. It sold very quickly and was an international sale.

                         Cost: $3.37

Listed:

                         Cost: $8.00

Total cost of my DVN items: $22.74

Expected Income: $349.99

I wish every brand had that kind of profit margin!

Finding Dries Van Noten items is extremely difficult and requires an extreme amount of luck.

A tip: look for dry cleaners tags. That's how I found my items. Somebody dropped them off at the dry cleaner and never picked them up. Most people won't just donate a DVN item to a thrift shop, so dry cleaner donations might be the best hope.

Needless to say....if you find DVN: BUY IT!
Or buy it and mail it to me!
