A-Z Brands: M

I've selected four M brands to include on the list: Marni, Marithe Francois + Girbaud, Miss Me and Mitchell & Ness. Today, I'll share the two primarily denim companies: Miss Me and MFG.

A-Z Brands: M

Marithe Francois + Girbaud (MFG)

MFG is one of the more scarce brands on the list. Marithe Francois Girbaud was a French clothing company founded in 1964. MFG was by far the most experimental denim company in the world. It launched the baggy jeans style in 1977; the first company to do so. MFG also invented the Blue Eternal process in 1999, making it impossible for the color of jeans to fade away.
MFG was extremely popular with the hip hop community in the 90's. The brand was mentioned in songs by Notorious B.I.G., Outkast, The Fugees, Common, Wu-Tang Clan, Master P, Lil Wayne and many more. Most MFG items you will find are baggy jeans or jean shorts from that time period.
In June 2012, MFG filed for brankruptcy and its website went dark. In 2013, five stores in Paris, one in Lyon and two in Belgium were closed as part of a compulsory liquidation. Currently, the brand is not producing any clothing but hopes to re-open one day.

In ebay terms, MFG items are very rare. There are only 1030 pre-owned MFG currently listed and 898 have sold recently. Women's clothing including dresses and jackets sell for the highest amount, but I've never found either. You will generally find men's jeans, graphic T's and jean shorts. You won't make a killing on a pair of MFG jeans but they will sell and should make you money. Keep a few things in mind:

- Condition is huge with these jeans. Most are from the early to mid 90's and have condition issues. Even with condition issues, you can sell them for $20-$25. Pairs in great condition can sell for much more.
- Look for jeans that have a colored stripe around the leg and reads: MFG. They will stand out on the rack!

Here are some recent MFG sales:

I've sold two pairs of MFG jeans; for $27 and $29. Right now I have a pair of jeans and a pair of shorts listed; plus I found a graphic T in Naples yesterday. Here is what I currently have listed:

                      Cost: $4.00
                    Listed: $19.99

                      Cost: $5.00
                    Listed: $27.99

You won't get rich selling MFG but you will make money. Ebay is one of the last few places to buy MFG clothing, so buyers will always come looking for MFG products. I just consider them an automatic sell and move on.

Miss Me Jeans

Miss Me is exactly the opposite for MFG.

1. It is a currently popular brand that was created in 2001 in the United States.

2. There are TONS of Miss Me jeans available for sale on eBay. AKA: plenty of competition. 10,765 pairs currently for sale and 32,285 sold recently.

3. You will make a lot of money selling Miss Me jeans.

Miss Me is a trendy denim clothing brand that "celebrates the shining spirit of women of every age through quality denim and apparel. Miss Me jeans are found in Macy's, Dillard's, Nordstrom, Belk, Buckle and boutiques throughout the United States. Celebrities such as; BeyoncĂ©, Miley Cyrus, Mischa Barton and others wear Miss Me jeans.

Here are some recent sales:

This sale interested me since I read on Miss Me's website they make jeans sizes 25-31. Fakes? Or have they recently started making bigger jeans due to demand?

Starting to think their website is wrong!

A few things to know about Miss Me jeans:

1. They run small. Measure EVERYTHING and include it in your listing so the buyer doesn't return them.
2. Reading denim sites I consistently heard the quality of Miss Me jeans has GREATLY declined in the last few years. With its rise in popularity, Miss Me has struggled to produce high quality jeans. What does this mean for you? Check the jeans before you buy them in a thrift store! Make sure they are not ripped somewhere; unless you know how to fix it. Don't get home and discover the jeans you just paid $5.00 for at the thrift store have an ugly rip in them.

Personally, my records say I've sold three pairs of Miss Me jeans (I know it's higher). They sold for $25,$35 and $40. I haven't found any recently, but always look out for Miss Me jeans. Like MFG, they are an automatic sale. Here is the one picture I have of Miss Me jeans I've sold:

I found two pairs of these exact jeans at a thrift store in Naples last year. They were early 2000's Miss Me jeans and sold very well. As will just about any pair of Miss Me jeans you find!
